In the heart of Umbria and just a few kilometres from Todi there lies the small village of Casigliano, which developed within the protective walls of the 16th. Century castle owned by the noble Atti family. The blue-tinged mountains of Monti Martani rise high on the horizon, their lower slopes blending with the nearer hills embracing and framing this perfect jewel preserved by history. Set against the fabulous backcloth of Umbria’s natural beauty, the castle and its hamlet embody the two overlapping cultures of nobility and peasantry typical of the region, allowing total escape from today’s modern world.

Time has a different tempo in Casigliano. The rhythm of life here, amidst the magical countryside, its perfumes, colours, sound and flavours lulls away all the stress of every-day-life, involuntarily transporting visitors on a calming inward journey.

Ten years ago Contessa Lucrezia Miari Fulcis dei Principi Corsini decided to transform this small hamlet, a dependent of nearby Acquasparta, into a village where the appreciative tourist can enjoy the genuine hospitality of Umbria. It was 1997 when plans were first drawn to develop the castle into a viable leisure enterprise, to incorporate local deep-rooted appreciation of food and its careful preparation. Simple elegance was the single defining rule governing the whole project, beginning with the restoration of the castle to the design of the menus to be found here.
